Examples as used in the VKS-KNAW lecture on groove and swing. Mean performance data ('ride cymbal swing') from Friberg & Sundström (2002) plotted in performance space (Honing, 2002). The black regions are perceptual categories. Within an region a rhythm is a heard as a different interpretation. Crossing a border it will be heard as a different rhythm (see Desain & Honing, 2003). Clicking on the performers name in the legenda will play an excerpt of the measured data.
